In shops around the world that sell metaphysical supplies, you will find Blue Obsidian Crystals that are claimed to have all manner of special properties. However, Blue Obsidian is not composed of obsidian (volcanic glass), it is made out of normal glass. Furthermore, glass does not have a crystalline structure, so Blue Obsidian Crystals are neither obsidian nor crystal. How much ash should I send?

Send 3 heaped tablespoons of ash per statuette you order. We will return any ash is not used in the mould when we send you the statuette.

How should I send the ashes?

Place the ashes in a small plastic bag and seal it closed. Send by your regular postal service, with tracking. It must be tracked so we can monitor the progress of the ashes through the postal system. Vita Sapien is not responsible for the ashes until they are received from the postal service.

Is it legal to send ashes through the post?

Yes. This article discusses the situation.

What happens next?

When we receive the ashes, we melt the beeswax, mix in the ashes and pour into the mould. When the beeswax has cooled, we remove the statuette from the mould and check the quality of the statuette. If quality is not high, we re-melt and re-pour. Then we send the statuette and any unused ashes to you with tracked post.

Will my ashes get mixed with others?

No. We have procedures in place to ensure that all ashes are treated with the proper care and respect that is due to remains of loved-ones. You can be assured your ashes are safe with us.

How many statuettes can be made in total from the full ashes?

Assuming there is fifty grams of ashes per statuette and there are 2,500 grams of ashes, this would make 50 statuettes. However, we could make more statuettes if we used less ash per statuette. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.

What colour are the statuettes?

The statuettes are beeswax coloured and will show speckles of ash on the surface. Beeswax colour varies from hive to hive, but ranges from a pale golden orange to darker hues. Ashes range in colour from pale to dark grey. Each Rest in Bees statuette is unique.

Does the statuette have an aroma?

Yes. The statuette smells of beeswax.

Where is the beeswax from?

Rest in Bees Statuettes are made from beeswax souced from professional bee keepers on Queensland Sunshine Coast and Northern New South Wales.

Are there other statuette designs?

There is one design at present (pictured above), and more will be added soon.

How long does it take to make the statuettes?

You should allow 2-3 weeks for delivery of your statuette.
