Vita Sapien Founder Guy Lane

Guy Lane is an old-school sustainability entrepreneur. He conceived of what is now Vita Sapien on 18 August 2016, wrote a 1,200 word blog about the idea, and posted it on Linked-in. He possibly would have forgotten about the idea had he not been contacted by a Malaysian PR firm that was organizing an event called Emerging Leaders Dialogs Asia. Guy was invited to speak at the event and had a few months to further research the idea before the presentation. He has been working on it ever since. Vita Sapien draws on many of Guy's experiences and skills some of which are described below.

Vita Sapien Beginnings

Guy presents what is now Vita Sapien to an international audience titled Emerging Leaders Dialogues Asia in Kuala Lumpar in 2016. The photo shows the opening sequence where he says, "If we were in right relationship with the Living Planet, we would be on our knees begging her not to kill us."

I is for Introvert

Guy's Myers Briggs Type Indicator is INTP where the 'I' stands for introvert. He is comfortable on his own, and often goes weeks without interacting with anyone but cafe staff. It is during these times that he creates and writes. Here, he works on his computer in Motel Prius, his mobile home.

E is for Extrovert

Guy's alter ego is a gregarious show-man called Guy Clean Sky. He doesn't show up often, but when he does, he puts on quite a show.

Minus 10 Celsius

Guy discovers the joy of minus 10 Celsius in Montreal, Canada where he was Vita Sapien delegation leader at the UN CBD COP-15 event in December 2022. This was a crash course in learning about UN Secretariat and protocols.

Cro-Magnon Cave Art

Guy at the International Center for Parietal Art in southern of France where there is a near-perfect replica of Lascaux Cave. Guy visited France to partake in the Making Ecospirituality Accessible residency hosted by Life Itself organization in April 2022. The Cro-Magnon art in the Lascaux cave was the inspiration for Guy's novella The Last Days Before God.

Moving Right Along, Now

Blue Ocean Motion

The Bitcarbon Method

Guy Lane was the first person to understand the mechanism that was driving up the Bitcoin mining network's carbon footprint. He released his findings to the press in December 2013, drawing the ire of Bitcoin aficionados and earning the title from one mumbling sock-puppet: The Bitcarbon Idiot. He forced an apology for that slight.

Guy and then business partner in the Funnel Exchange take center stage having been shortlisted for Sustainable Shipping Award in London 2010.

TV News

Guy works with journalists to tell a story about a green building construction project in Townsville, 2007. Clive, the concreter, was surprised to have been nominated by the foreman to partake in a SEA O2 press event. He didn't even know that the electric crane ran on Green Power.

UN in Dubai

Guy in his pavilion at the UNEP Environmentally Sound Technology Showcase in Dubai 2006. This event was electrifying, and prompted Guy to start writing novels, the first of which was titled The Oil Price.

The Bio Boys

Guy's work in with reeFUEL biodiesel is honored through a CityLife magazine article in Townsville, September 2006. A big learning from this experience was not to make fuel out of food.
