Earth New Year

Earth New Year 2024 saw some changes. The main ceremony was renamed to Alamogordo, a new sergeant was enrolled, and the burning effigy was renamed to Abyssalthing. The event was held in the same venue as last year in St Lucia, Brisbane. 

Earth New Year in 2023 was performed in yard next to a busy main road in St Lucia, Brisbane. 

Earth New Year in 2022 was performed in a public park where there were no deer, but a few curlews and passers-by. No Moreton Bay fig trees were harmed in this year's Trinibomtess.

The central feature of the Earth New Year ceremony is Trinibomtess, a commemoration of the Trinity Bomb test of 1945. It takes place at 9.29 pm AEST. 2021 Earth New Year was located at a residence in Taringa, Brizvegas. 

Earth new Year 2020 was held at Floyd Town in North Lakes, Brizvegas. 

Unlike the previous year, there were no hippies. So sad. 

Video shows some fiery action from Earth New Year 2019 held at Floyd Town in North Lakes, Brizvegas. This year, we were accompanied by about a dozen hippies. It was awesome. This was the best so far and demonstraes the dramatic tension that was intended for this ceremony. This year, Abyssalman was annihilated by fire and lightsabers.

Earth New Year was held at a property in Mt Sampson next to a deer farm. This Gadget used magnets glued to the bottle to secure it to the bottom of the pail. Unfortunately Operator Lane failed to place the device securely to the bottom and the device misfired.

On July 16 1945, the Trinity Bomb Test was the first nuclear bomb test, a plutonium implosion device nicknamed the Gadget. It produced a blast with the equivalent of about 14,000 tons of TNT. This was the bomb design that was to be dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki a few months later. This bomb test is commemorated at the Vita New Year Ceremony.
