Vita Sapien believes that human sexuality is too diverse for the binary male /female model to make sense. Basic observations of human behaviour show that things are much more complex.
Furthmore, so much anguish is caused by the binary model, and this anguish can be eased by accepting views on gender that have roots in some indigenous cultures.
Indigenous cultures have the benefit of being native to the human condition, and not contorted to the needs of monogod religious views or conservative ideologies.
The diagram is not meant to be an exhaustive overview of gender. Instead, it helps to clarify the concept of more than two gender forms.
The Six Gender Waypoints are not definitive, but indicative, simple ideas that help explain complicated feelings.
You can interact with the diagram by placing your finger on the edge of the circle to indicate where you feel your gender identity lies.
In time, the diagram could be embellished with additional sub-themes, or even additional structures such as sexual orientation.
At the top of the diagram, the non-binary people are those who don't identify solely with either simple male or female paradigms. On either side of the non-binary in the diagram is the masculine / feminine males and the masculine / feminine females.
The diagram makes no value judgement about how an individual ought to identify their gender.
Within the non-binary sector are two implied subgroups:
- non-of-your-business
- I don't buy into this gender concept
