Ecosystem Spirituality & the path to the Verdant Age
Vita Sapien Philosophy addresses the root cause of our ecological crisis: the severing of humanity's spiritual connection to nature.
Spirituality evolved in humans around 70,000 years ago, intertwined with other cognitive abilities such as math, engineering, and art.
For most of this time, human spirituality has been focused on the Living Planet — animism, ancestor spirits connected to land, and deep ecological knowledge. Indigenous people continue this tradition to this day.
Around 12,000 years ago, hunter-gatherer cultures transitioned to agricultural cultures for many people around the world, and as a result, spiritual philosophies shifted away from wild nature.
New spiritual ideas took hold that included gods, the soul, heaven and hell. These 'denatured' spiritualities — disconnected from nature and the Living Planet — became the dominant spiritual expression in the world.
Human behaviour is largely motivated by what we believe, less so than what we know. The mainstream religions and many philosophies do not teach the oneness between humans and the Living Planet.
A global, mass-movement to reconnect people spiritually with nature. This is the mission of Vita Sapien Organisation.
Absent a mass movement to nature-based spirituality, Earth will likely enter the Hothouse, annihilating most life on Earth with humans among the first to perish. It needn't be this way.
If humanity can resolve the Anthropocene, we can enter the Verdant Age — the time when humans and the Living Planet thrive in synergy. The Verdant Age is not a dream. It is the logical and spiritual next step for humanity.
For humanity to thrive on Earth for a Galactic Year — about 230 million Earth years. To achieve this, we need to survive the 21st century with sufficient intact ecosystems and a high proportion of nature-spiritual people.
Vita Sapien augments denatured spiritualities rather than replacing them. There can be Vitan Christians, Vitan Atheists, Vitan Buddhists, and more.
